TUCSON, Ariz. - May 4, 2005 - ScriptSave, a leading provider of prescription drug discount
programs, was named one of the 100 fastest growing companies located in an inner city by the
Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC)-Inc. Magazine for the second year in a row.
ScriptSave was selected from a pool of more than 4,500 companies in 150 cities. ScriptSave,
ranked 74th, is the only Tucson company to make the list.
Entering its second decade in business, ScriptSave is the nation's premier drug discount
card provider, reporting total prescription saving to date of over ¾ billion dollars for more
than 12 million underinsured and uninsured cardholders. In 2004, the average national savings
was 21 percent or $10.97 per prescription. The company currently employs 159 people.
According to ScriptSave founder and CEO, Charles Horn, "We are pleased to be a two-time award
winner of the ICIC-Inc. Magazine Inner City 100. Tucson, with its highly skilled and motivated
workforce has been the ideal location for ScriptSave. We have been able to attract a very
talented team who are dedicated to providing 'positively outstanding service' and serving as
advocates for our customers."
Now in its seventh year, the Inner City 100 is a national competition to find and rank
fast-growing companies in inner cities across America. The program represents a unique partnership
between the ICIC, a national non-profit organization focused on creating healthy urban economies,
and Inc. magazine, the leading publication for growing companies and entrepreneurs. To qualify,
a nominated company must be an independent, for-profit corporation, partnership or proprietorship
that has at least 51 percent of its operations located in an economically distressed urban area
and sales of at least $150,000 in 1999 and $1 million or more in 2003.
About Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC)
ICIC is a national, non-partisan, not-for-profit organization founded in 1994 by Harvard Business
School Professor Michael E. Porter following several years of pioneering research on inner-city
business and economic development. With affiliates in three cities and significant on-the-ground
activities in many others, ICIC has rapidly established itself as a national force in inner-city
economic development. By identifying the competitive potential of inner cities -- strategic location,
local market demand, growth opportunities via integration with the regional economy and availability
of labor -- ICIC aims to build the business case for doing business in America's inner cities.
ICIC's mission is to spark new thinking about the business potential of inner cities, thereby
creating jobs and wealth for inner-city residents. For more information, visit www.icic.org.
